Podlodka is a weekly audio show about IT and everything that interests the community.
Each episode is a full immersion into the topic with a guest speaker. They talk about development, share industry development experiences and discuss hot topics. On the one hand they like to deep-dive into complex technologies. For example, they talked about distributed computing, networks, compilers, or cryptocurrencies. Some other times, their interests do not stop in technical topics: that’s why they have recorded episodes about sleep, meditation, and parenthood.
On this particular episode (focus of this tip) the hosts invited Kirill Pimenov (Head of Security @ Parity Tech): In the first part of the podcast, they discussed the technical components of blockchains with a focus on Polkadot: how cryptocurrencies are connected to blockchain networks and the reason why anonymity is achieved, how to avoid double spending among other general problems solved by the tech. In the second part, the hosts discussed the social aspect of blockchain: a tool that allows people to unite in potentially infinite communities not because of external coercion or fear, but for their own benefit.
In the past five years, They have released more than 250 episodes. On average, each one is listened to around 15,000-20,000 times, and in total they have over 5 million listens. They mainly host the podcast on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/podlodka. Their audience is mostly represented by backend, iOS, android developers and team leaders. More than 50% of the audience identified themselves as senior developers according to a recent survey.
