Brief

Hello community, Polkadot Staking Dashboard (deployed to https://staking.polkadot.network), is a project that has been managed by Ross Bulat at Parity Technologies for the last 18 months.

The success of Polkadot Staking Dashboard has come about by listening to the community’s calls of improving Polkadot UX, making Polkadot more accessible for non-technical users, and making Polkadot more intuitive and fun to use. By doing this with the attractive use case of staking (and by extension, nomination pools), Polkadot users have a reliable, 24/7 operational dApp in https://staking.polkadot.network, in which continued UX enhancements are applied on every update.

Staking dashboard has received over 1.2 million page visits over the past 12 months, and users spend over 1 minute on average in the app. It is the premier staking app for Polkadot, offering a feature-rich interface covering both solo staking and nomination pools, with Polkadot, Kusama and Westend support.

Intending to supercharge Polkadot consumer apps, this proposal aims to transition the Polkadot Staking Dashboard development and surrounding efforts into a separate entity, external from Parity Technologies, and continue the maintenance and growth of the staking dashboard and surrounding UX products.

Focuses for the 6-Month Period

  1. Maintenance and new features: General maintenance to the product codebase and new features to be added in the time period, making staking dashboard more useful, more streamlined, and even easier to use.
  2. Onboard dashboard components to Polkadot Cloud: Increasing the number of re-usable high impact components for Polkadot dApps. We are aiming to dramatically speed up dApp development for Parachain teams by contributing these re-usable components.
  3. Explore next-generation API support with Polkadot API, an upcoming alternative to Polkadot JS API. This will support the Polkadot API team by applying the API to a core use case in staking, and can act as example code for the wider Polkadot dApp community to learn and apply to their projects.
  4. Improved testing: Onboarding of unit and integration tests for critical app logic. This will iron out more bugs and undesired edge cases, and increase app reliability.
  5. Project management and mentorship: General management tasks and mentorship for team and skill growth, which aims to onboard new developers external from the Polkadot ecosystem.

MY - AYE to proposal

Can you pls add in the future versions:

  • forming the list of validators to share with other stakers in one click
  • delegation and UNDELEGATION ! included to staking process like in Cosmos ecosystem, you can choose not only validators but also delegate you vote to someone you nominate in couple clicks and undelegate easy, not the pain in the ass like now.
