Requesting a fund to secure a global sports sponsorship opportunity with one of the world's most engaging and followed sports teams. 

An opportunity to instantly elevate Polkadot to become a globally recognisable brand. Integrated into the partnership will be opportunities to develop and promote Polkadot technology through a highly engaged global fanbase providing on-chain activations and real-life technology use cases.

Detailed information relating to the partnership opportunity has been removed from the public domain upon request of the rights holder due to details relating to price, benefits and term of agreement being considered sensitive and confidential. Removal of information does not effect the premise of the proposal. 

Upon referendum approval, funds will enter a multi-signature wallet with trusted Polkadot community members. No funds will be utilised without full disclosure of contractual terms. Funds will be immediately returned to treasury, from the multi-signature account, if partnership rights are not agreed or if terms do not satisfy the needs of the Polkadot community. 

Partnership rights will be fully managed by international sports marketing agency, ORSEN SA. ORSEN is headquartered in Nyon, Switzerland with a team of highly experienced sports marketing professionals in Switzerland, London and Miami. ORSEN have been responsible for a number of high profile sports sponsorships with some of the world's biggest sports rights holders such as Inter Miami CF, FIFA World Cup, UEFA EURO 2024, FIBA, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea FC, AS Monaco and many more high profile sports rights holders and sports celebrities such as Kobe Bryant, Kaka, Luis Figo, Lothar Mathäus etc.

ORSEN's team will work closely with the key members of the Polkadot community to develop partnership KPI's and objectives, dedicating staff to manage, execute and optimise partnership rights such as:

  • Globally visible in-game advertising rights
  • Extensive branding on interview backdrops, closed circuit stadium screens, jumbotron advertisements
  • VIP Hospitality Suite
  • Extensive pool of match tickets
  • Money-Can't buy experiences (Travel with the team, closed training sessions etc.)
  • Large inventory of signed merchandise
  • Management of content capture with players to create Polkadot educational content and drive engagement and on-chain activations
  • Social media promotion through team owned and operated channels
  • Management of sole and exclusive digital campaigns and behind the scenes content capture
  • Web and digital fan engagement
  • Use of team IP and imagery
  • On-site, fan-zone activations to drive engagement and Polkadot technology use cases
  • Management of PR and media communications
  • Facilities usage
  • Branded promotions and gamified sweepstakes and giveaways 
  • CSR and community activations

Sponsorship assets and money-can't buy experiences can be used to reward fans for engagement on the Polkadot ecosystem through an on-chain loyalty and rewards programme that will showcase a partnership whereby Polkadot enhances the experience and engagement of a global fanbase.

those who go to watch the game, watch polkadot on some of the jersey/ training/ some post etc

then what? How much people will look for what it is, and that will end it all, it is not something that they can buy, it is not a product.

It is a chain for others to develop things on top of the chain

the market does not fit 😅

Even if is for real Madrid or barcelona , i dont think this is the path that we should take, for a blockchain.

Hello from Polkadotters.
Inter Miami is one of the biggest brands worldwide besides European giants Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or Manchester City. The number of social followers has skyrocketed since Leo Messi, one of the biggest marketing brands on the planet, joined Inter Miami. But it was huge enough even before, the impact of David Beckham’s ownership became evident. David had a great impact on the football/soccer field and was also off the field as an owner and businessman.
This deal is for 1,5 years and due to the info that the main sponsor on the match dress was not possible, we think it's a great chance to get exposure via many different social networks. It’s almost not about the people who visit the match and see the logo, but rather the social media impact of the brand itself.
Some might disagree that brand awareness for a blockchain sponsoring a US-based sports club is relevant. But in our eyes, the more interesting part of this deal, or even better to call it a partnership, is the technology integration. Not just the lending page within polkadot.com, but also direct fan engagement using Polkadot tech, such as wallets, NFT marketplace & minting tools, or maybe even further implementation. Plus Polkadot will have tickets and merch for all kinds of contests, which will drive the excitement.
With experienced management by ORSEN's sports marketing team in Miami, this partnership is poised to deliver significant value and impact for the Polkadot ecosystem. And even though we understand there will be comparisons to Tezos and how the sponsorship with Manchester United helped them, still we think this is a good step.
The main goal of this partnership is in our eyes to handover the successful story of Inter Miami & Polkadot tech connection. That’s why we are in favor of this proposal.

I'v been intentionally ignoring a lot of what goes on in opengov ever since ref 102 was rejected. But this, will go down as the worst spending decision in the history of opengov.
