Hello Polkadot Community,
I’m Milton, one half of the Crypto Youtube channel, CryptoWise.
I have been a crypto enthusiast since 2017 and in 2020 decided to launch CryptoWise as a way to share everything I’d been learning about in crypto with people beyond my friends and family (who, let's face it were sick of hearing me talk about crypto all the time). Although we cover all crypto on our channel, Polkadot is the chain we have covered most. We affectionately call it our crypto crush.
Over the years we have experimented with various forms of content and have covered Polkadot and its ecosystem in many ways including Informative deep dive project videos, long form interviews with project founders and more fun and accessible degen focused shows.
We were covering Polkadot so often that we created a separate Polkadot Playlist on our Youtube Page. To date it has 45 videos in it but we have spoken about Dot and the Dot ecosystem on many more of our videos.
Here are a few of our past videos:
One of my first videos that covered Parachains launching on Kusama and Polkadot.
Our Interview with AStar Founder Sota Watanabe shortly after their Parachain Launch
A general video covering the latest Polkadot news from a couple years ago.
As you can see, we are not fair weather Polkadot enthusiasts. We have been here through all the ups and downs. We’ve covered many Polkadot projects large and small, some who unfortunately haven’t survived and some who have become mainstays to the ecosystem such as AStar, Manta, Kilt, Unique, Integritee, Moonbeam, Hydra DX, Bifrost and many others.
In the last bull run our channel peaked with videos often getting over 10k views and a handful going viral and reaching upwards of 300k views. We had a loyal, active community both on Youtube and Twitter where we had over 7000 followers. Unfortunately, due to personal and financial reasons we had to take a break from the channel in 2022. We also saw our original Twitter account banned for no particular reason. In late 2023 we began to slowly publish content again and have started a new Twitter account @cryptowiseguys. We’re beginning to publish more and more content and hope to be full time again in the coming weeks. Of course, as always, much of our content will cover Polkadot and its ecosystem.
With the recent allocation of treasury funds going to marketing, it has been fun to watch some of the bigger channels talk about Dot. Although also frustrating to hear how clearly ignorant they are about Dot and the ecosystem. Clearly these people have ignored Dot and are now just speaking about it because they were able to access money to do so. But many of them have not put in the time to fully understand the ecosystem. In a bull market, I know that our channel can once again reach the mid tier size we were and be a voice that speaks about Dot with genuine passion and knowledge about what is happening in the ecosystem.
Your support of this proposal will certainly help us speed up the return to our previous audience engagement. But rest assured, our coverage of Dot will happen regardless of whether this proposal is successful or not. We don’t cover Dot because we expect funds from the treasury, we cover it because we see it as an essential part of Web3.
If you are so inclined to support our channel through this Big Tipper proposal, we are much appreciated. However, regardless of how you vote, we do hope that you will find us on X and say hello. We love interacting with fellow Dot enthusiasts and especially the projects that have chosen to be powered by Polkadot. And since we had to start a new X account we have lost contact with many of our previous Dot network.
Thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Milton
